2 Significant Additions FORMING A Business Systems Practice
Annapolis, MD—For Immediate Release
December 7, 2015
Significance, Inc. is excited to announce the addition of strategic new hires who will lead the new Business Systems division, Mr. Michael Cianciolo and Mr. Brian Opperman.
With many years of experience, both have extensive backgrounds in the management and implementation of financial management systems across the federal government with an emphasis on portfolio management and shared services. Their presence at Significance will facilitate growth in this new division of the company.
As Mr. Cianciolo runs the Business Systems consulting practice within Significance, he will have the ability to penetrate a larger cross-section of needed services in Shared Services than he did within the government. In his most recent position at Department of Treasury, Mike served as the Program Manager for the Financial Management Line of Business for Shared Services. Mike was an integral part of the US Federal government’s first real initiative to move to a shared services platform for financial systems.
“Mike’s insight will be invaluable as Significance creates a methodology for Government Clients that need a flawlessly executed plan to migrate to shared services. We are fortunate that Mike has decided to help us build. Mike and Brian are the first of many investments the company plans to make in this market space.” Significance’s President, Mary Ahern-Snyder, noted of Mike’s joining the Significance team.
Prior to his position at Department of Treasury, Mr. Cianciolo was in a key position as the financial management systems director for the Office of Financial Operations (FMO) within the Department of the Navy.
Along with Mr. Cianciolo, Mr. Brian Opperman has become part of the Significance team. The two have worked together for almost a decade. They started as colleagues but over the years they have evolved into a cohesive team with synergy and drive. Mr. Opperman also has both private and public sector experience. Brian began his professional career at General Dynamics. Later he joined Department of the Navy (FMO). Mr. Opperman most recently had worked for the Financial Innovation and Transformation office with the Department of Treasury. Together, Mike and Brian will have the opportunity to create a foothold in the market place, especially within the Shared Service space as known innovators and leaders.
“I am excited about joining a wonderful team at Significance, Inc. and look forward to bringing value to the Business Systems Division. We share a common vision that government’s business operations need to be provided in a central, efficient, and transparent manner.” Mr. Opperman stated.
Mr. Cianciolo and Mr. Opperman will provide strategic planning and management that Business Systems requires to meet client’s needs. Their knowledge of the market place and their key relationships are going to be additional factors in the road to success.
In a Business Systems division, an understanding that the federal government has to do more with less is key. Significance has the expertise to assist the government with shrinking the IT footprint and budget while achieving greater efficiencies. Whether through an increased focus on IT portfolio management or through the implementation of shared services, we possess the skills and experience to help the government rethink the way it does business in the 21st century.
